Hello art enthusiasts,
Well it turns out, you will have to do some math, sorry! That is because our system does not automatically generate the total size of your selections. Maybe someday I can figure out a way to make this easier for you, but for now, here is how you calculate the total size of your canvas with regular frames, or the paper art prints, including the frame.
Let's agree on some definitions to start with:
Width of art print: from left to right.
Height of art print: from top to bottom.
To find the total size of your art paper print including the frame and mat board, follow this method (for canvas prints just remove the mat board value since they do not have those):
Total Width = Art print width + Matboard size x 2 + Frame width x 2
Total Height = Art print height + Matboard size x 2 + Frame width x 2
Here is an example below, for a paper print that would include a mat board, (since it is in portrait orientation, the short side here is the width, in a landscape orientation example, the long side would be the width):
Total Width: 12 + 2.5 x 2 + 1.25 x 2 = 19.5 inches
Total Height: 16 + 2.5 x 2 + 1.25 x 2 = 23.5 inches
This art print is going to measure 19.5" X 23.5"
As for the canvas art prints with 'floating frames',
you will need to locate the mockup image that has the frame sizes in the mockup gallery, just like the one below:
Depending on which stretched wood thickness you use for the canvas frame, you apply the above circled sizes and add them up to the size of the canvas print. There is a slight air gap between the frame and the canvas print. I usually estimate around 1/4 inch, but that is not alway accurate.
Voila! Now you can figure out if your favorite art print selections will fit on your wall!
