How to Customize Wall Art

How to Customize Wall Art

Hey guys, please do not panic when you attempt to purchase wall art and you see so many options, it is easier than it looks! If you do this one time, you will nail it the next!

Here is how you can create your own art print for your space.

Material:

Start by thinking about the material you want to print on. In the drop down menu 'wall art' you can choose canvas or paper, and one day we will add metal and acrylic, please bear with us.

On the ‘canvas’ page you will find Floating Frames or Regular Frames, and Regular Frames on the ‘paper’ page only.

Here are images showing the difference between the two types of frames: In the regular frame below, the frame covers the edges of the canvas.

In the floating frame below, there is a gap between the canvas and frame.

Series:

Each series has a group of designs from that season, for example Winter26, Spring26, Summer26, etc. Each series has the design numbers of those images, listed in the description, or if you hover over a design, you will see its number. You can later on ‘search’ the store by design number or series number to find the piece you liked.

Series examples: (you do not need to bother too much about these)

CR-W26R5445 (C is for canvas, R is for regular frames, W26 is for winter 2026, R5445 is for aspect ratio 5:4 and ratio 4:5)

CF-W26R11 (C is for canvas, F is for floating frames, W26 is for winter 2026, R11 is for aspect ratio 1:1)

AP-W26R32235 (A is for art paper, P is for photo paper, these will both only have regular frames, W26 is for winter 2026, R3223 is for aspect ratio 3:2 and ratio 2:3)

You can note down what series number you looked at so that you can come back later if needed and search the piece you liked.

Once you decide on a series, follow these steps for Canvas Regular Frames:

Step 1: Orientation & (View In Room is coming soon)

Figure out if your wall has space for a landscape or portrait style art print, based on what will look better.

Once we complete the View In Room button, you will be able to upload an image of your space, and view the different designs in your space to see which will work best before purchasing. This will also work for Home Decor, not just Wall Art.

Step 2: Select frame here, size of frame edges in inches W x D (width x depth)

Shuffle the different frames in the drop down menu to see in the live preview which one works best on the art print while also working well in your space. Keep in mind that you may someday move the artwork to another room or house, so the finishings may be different there, and the piece will clash. For example, if your current home is mainly gold features, your next home might be silver, and so the gold frame you had picked will no longer work as well. Neutral is always best. Pricing is also important, try to find something within your total budget.

Step 3: Size of art print in inches, Long side x Short side

Choose the size of the art print. Pricing will change here too. All of the canvas with regular frames are stretched on wood that is 0.75” thick, if you want your print on a thicker sized wood, go with Canvas on Floating Frames, those will have 1.25” or 1.5” thick wood that the print will be stretched on.

Based on your orientation selection, the long side may be the width, or the height, and short side will be the corresponding size. Add up the total size of your artwork now, based on your selections, by following this blog post if needed:  https://mangosteenartprints.com/blogs/news/how-to-measure-the-total-size-of-your-art-prints-including-the-frame

Step 4: Pick a design or upload your own

Select your favorite art print design in the ‘personalization’ box. If you cannot find anything you like in Winter 26, try the next season. If you want to upload your own artwork, you will need to figure out the aspect ratio, so that your image will not be cropped during production.

For more about aspect ratio, visit the FAQ in the art print section, go to number 8. https://mangosteenartprints.com/pages/faq

Each product should have the aspect ratio in the description box. See image below.

The image you upload needs to be at least 200 DPI (dots per inch).

We will fix it for you if needed for wall art, but for home decor, it goes straight to production and we cannot fix the image on your behalf.

Step 5: Type of printing on canvas edges (optional)

We can decide it for you, unless you have a preference, there are 3 options here. From hovering over the thumbnail image, you can see that the first one is ‘image wrap’, that means your art print will be zoomed in on, and its edges will wrap around the sides of the wood, so when walking by the art print, you can see that the sides are from the artwork itself. For the 'mirror wrap' option, the art print will not be zoomed in on, and its edges will mirror the last inch of your art print. For the 'solid wrap' option, the art print will not be zoomed in on, and its edges will be white.

Step 6: Hanging gear options (optional)

We can choose this for you, unless you have a preference. There are some artworks that you cannot choose the hanging gear for, or that have limited choices. Pick from whatever options you find available.

Step 7: Write your special requests (optional)

There is a variety of special requests that we accommodate. All will change production and delivery time. All will change the price by it going higher or lower, in some cases if we have to use another framing company, the frame prices will change, and so will the printing prices. We will refund or quote for the difference. Here are some ideas of what you can request:

Museum grade glass, giclée art paper prints, cotton canvas, posters, glossy photo paper, 'themed' art prints. As well as cropping, rotating, flipping, changing the color of an art print, dividing art prints into diptychs, triptychs or more. As well as design my wall, paint my prints, convert images to 3D, custom art print sizes, double matting, more frame options, more matting options, exclusive collections, give me a discount for super large orders, and much more!

We are here to assist you while you create stunning art prints for life!

For Canvas with Floating Frames, the steps are very similar to the above, the only difference is that there are less frame options to choose from. There are 3 wood thickness options to choose from, and some will cost more, those are 0.75" or 1.25" or 1.5". A general rule I go by, is that the bigger the art print, the thicker the wood. I usually just pick the 1.25" for small or medium pieces. Finally, the hanging gear options will be different.

For Paper Prints, it is slightly different but generally the same as the above with the exception that you will need to select a paper type, we have semi glossy photo, or archival art paper, and feel free to request another type in the special requests box. Then you will need to select a mat board, and pay attention to the size it will add to your art print, and finally, the hanging gear is different too.

Good luck, and pls send me any questions you may have: orders@mangosteenartprints.com.

Best wishes,
